Objectionable on so many levels

December 6, 2008

Sometimes, particularly while reading David Wells, I am strongly tempted to discontinue my willingness to call myself an evangelical, since (he tells me) the term has nearly no meaning anymore.

Then, when I see things like this, (HT: Purgatorio) I am quite ready to insist that I am not an evangelical.

Unbelievable.

“Your mom and dad will love to play along too with classics from Petra, White Cross, and others . . .”

Like I said, “on so many levels.” You cannot make this stuff up. I truly thought it was a joke at first.

If we all band together, we can get this for Ryan for Christmas.

    🙂

My favorite part: “Tilt the guitar at the right time for bonus points.”

I want to see Ryan tilt his guitar at just the right time.

Michael, that was a terrible pun.

Sadly, I know people who would buy this. There are very few Christian artists who have the artistic talent to even be in a game of this type…I can think of Delirious, Pillar, and that’s probably it. A Christian Rock Band knockoff would be better, because at least then you can be singing. That opens the genre to Hillsong and other worship groups.

Funny story…a friend of mine used to enjoy playing Guitar Hero until she realized she couldn’t pray in tongues while praying. Somehow it disturbed her communion with God. I respect that reason for not playing. But the rest of us are free to “rock”…lol.

I don’t know how you come across this stuff, Ryan, but thanks, I think? It boggles the mind, and makes me shake my head at the audacity of it all.

Just a note to let you know the Cyber Hymnal (linked from your blog), has a new URL: http://www.hymntime.com/tch. Please spread the word!

    God bless…
